Thanks also to all parishioners who participated in the many ministries of Lent.

NEWS, RECENT and HISTORY
On the feast of the Ascension, May 4, our CCD young Catholics decorated the May altar and crowned the Blessed Virgin Mary in her month of May. Daniel leads the procession at the 10 AM Mass.

All of the CCD students are in this photo. Look at the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary which they prepared, hanging on the walls of the church. A special day for Camilla Alvarado, her thirteenth birthday. Happy birthday, Camilla.

Here is the result of their efforts, a beautiful May altar. Parishioners at the 8 AM Mass assisted in the decorations.

Another Extraordinary Form (Latin Tridentine) Mass was celebrated on Monday, April 28. Terry Conaway was the acolyte, for the first time in 60 years since he has served a Latin Mass.

We celebrated Father Steckler's 81st birthday on Thursday, April 17, one day after Pope Benedict XVI's birthday. Here is Father enjoying his cake with parishioners.

This view greeted all fifteen attendees at Stations of the Cross on March 7. A message? Remember when churches were full for Stations during Lent?

On Christmas Eve 2007, Father Steckler offered the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, a Latin Tridentine Mass, as decreed by Pope Benedict XVI. About 30 people assisted at the low Mass, probably the first said in this church in some 40 years. Although some parishioners had Missals, many recited the responses from memory. This will become a monthly celebration.

On Sunday, December 9, Father Steckler baptized baby Rosemary Crouse, shown here with her parents, grandparents, brother and godparents.

Here are photos of our 2007-08 CCD students in class with their teachers.

Father Steckler has returned and we had a celebration in honor of his 50th Jubilee as a priest. It was a great party, at the Yachats Commons, thanks to the efforts of Robin Springer and a whole lot of other people. One photo below. TO JUBILEE

Here is Father Anthony Fernandes, SFX, who filled in for Father Steckler during June and July 2007.

We had a "farewell" dinner for Father Anthony on July 27, and here are some of the photos of the event.

Father giving the Invocation. Unsung heroes Julie, chief cook and Sherrie, waitress, in the background.

We had a good turnout. Father Anthony was popular with the parishioners.

Don Schantin presented a check from the St. Vincent dePaul chapter.

Father and Karen Manternach share conversation.
On July 26, Father Steckler returned temporarily to Baptize, Confirm and administer Holy Eucharist to Vicki Burkett, daughter of Dennis Bourgerie.

Our annual strawberry festival was a success on June 16.

On Sunday, May 27, following the 8 AM Mass, Wyatt Chance Naylor was baptized by Father Steckler.

In addition, Kenneth Crouse, Jr., who received his First Communion last week, was confirmed into the faith by Fr. Steckler.

Better late than never. Here is a photo of the party on St. Patrick's Day, March 17 this year. Thanks to Pauline Becker for the photo.

On Sunday, May 13, Ian Frame, Carlos Alvarado and Daniel Alvarado received their First Communion at the 10 o'clock Mass.

Knights of Columbus Steve, Jim, Jerry and Kent presented rosaries to the Communicants.

Sunday, April 15, 2007. The parish held a celebration of Father Steckler's 80th birthday (April 17) and his 50th Jubilee as an ordained priest.
It was well attended. Here is a photo of the crowd gathering.

Mike Smith was MC, shared with Father's sister Joan Marsh

Here is the head table, with Angela Bourgerie, another MC, Father Steckler and his sister and brother-in-law.

After being toasted and roasted, Father got to respond. He looks humble, doesn't he?

Many parishioners in this shot. Can you find yourselves? Folks seated and others in line for the meal.

On December 2 and 3 we held our annual Christmas Bazaar. Here is Michelle selling Christmas items and Jerry cooking, again.

Our parish Religious Education program is progressing. Following regular classes on October 18, the children prayed a decade
of the Rosary in the church, then presented their individual petitions to Father Steckler.

On Sunday, October 15, the parish celebrated Father Steckler's 10th anniversary as our pastor. A luncheon of lamb stew
and all the trimmings, prepared by Jerry Raveling and his team, was served. The meal was delicious. Father Steckler was "roasted" by several
parishioners. He received some nice gifts and the best wishes of all present.

Kent Hansen was the master of ceremonies

Father was given a chance to rebut the roasters

He was surprised by some of the gifts

Some of the attendees. Can you find yourselves in the photos?

THANK YOU, Father Steckler. Thanks to all parishioners who worked so hard to organize and carry out this tribute, and thanks to all who attended.
It was a wonderful celebration.
