Class Glass from Waldport
Oregon Coast Festival Of Glass
The Oregon Coast Festival Of Glass continues.
The "Oregon Coast Festival Of Glass" continues in the tradition of its inspiration. The placing of glass art on the beaches, free for those lucky enough to find it. Art for the sake of art. Surprises in the sand.
Join us for an experience you'll cherish for a lifetime. Fifteen to twenty floats per week are being hidden along the beaches of Yachats (Ya-hots) and Waldport, Oregon (MP 152 to MP 164 on Hwy 101). Another 600 hundred floats will be hidden on the Beaches of Florence, Oregon, Fall of 2003.
These floats are signed and numbered by Bryan Duncan, the artist who conceived and started the
Festival Of Glass. As the festival grows, more artists will be commissioned to create works of art for the beaches for kids of all ages to find. As the year 2003 approaches, more floats per week will be
hidden until all two thousand one of the "Duncan 2001" series have been left on the beaches (this has been done). New Year's eve will see the first of the "Duncan 2003" series floats appear on the beaches. Our goal is to hide approximately 100 floats per week beginning the last week of 2002 and continuing through the month of
January 2004.
So bring your family and friends for a mid-winter break along the Central Oregon Coast, enjoy the art gallery offerings, an intimate dinner, or curl up in your room with that special person. One more thing, don't forget to go beachcombing. You just might come home with a collectable keepsake to remind you of a very special time.
As always, the Oregon Coast is known for its storms during the winter months. Float distribution will be temporarily suspended during times of extreme high tides and storms, but keep one thing in mind, there is nothing finer than a winter storm along the Oregon coast in Waldport. It is well worth the experience.
World class travelers from all over will travel to the Oregon Coast this and every year to hunt the beaches for the popular Bryan Duncan "Festival of Glass Floats". Travelers have taken the Duncan "Floats" to Europe, Eygpt and beyond. Maybe we'll have one travel into space some day? And remember it all starts here in Waldport.
