4449 AMERICAN FREEDOM TRAIN REBORN

PHOTOS BY OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS

Having ridden the train, I was unable to shoot photos from outside except during photo runbys. Thousands of people watched the train pass by and thankfully some of the best railfan photographers in the Northwest shot some super photos. The first three are by Ted Curphey (Funnelfan) who has a great sense of composition. The photos speak for themselves, I'm sure you will agree. Ted has his own website at FUNNELFAN's SITE

Apologies to Ted for making them so small

These three were shot by Martin E. Hansen, who has contributed numerous railfan articles to Railfan and Railroad Magazine, organized photographers' specials in the northwest, was part of the engine crew for this trip.....Hmm, Martin, how did you get these?

Here are two by Michael Christy, whom some of you may know as Bearcat or Satokuma. Michael has a lock on the Cape Horn Tunnel shots as he got good ones last year when 4449 was black. It's hard to beat Doyle to the tunnel. Michael's home site is Satokuma

And three from Burlington John Lewis, who just barely got to go on the trip, drove all the way from San Diego to do so, and entertained all of us with his salesmanship--made some $$ for the cause.

Having come this far, here's some history. The other two steam engines to pull this train in 1976, from the collection of Harold K. Vollrath.
