Open Internet Policy Statement
“The FCC is focused on ensuring that every American has access to open and robust high-speed Internet service.” This is why Pioneer has established a state-of-the-art, broadband network affording Internet providers like Peak Internet, the ability to provide Internet connectivity to our members.
The FCC further states that “The open Internet uses free, publicly available standards that anyone can access and build to, and treats all traffic that flows across the network in roughly the same way. The principle of the open Internet is sometimes referred to as “net neutrality.” Under this principle, consumers can make their own choices about what applications and services to use and are free to decide what lawful content they want to access, create, or share with others. This openness promotes competition and enables investment and innovation.”
It is important to note that Pioneer Telephone Cooperative is not an Internet Service provider, and we do not sell broadband service to the individuals, but rather to Internet Service Providers. However, we do support the Open Internet principles that the FCC is promoting. Pioneer does manage a broadband network of connectivity, but does not provide internet access, currently only Peak Internet is connected to Pioneer. We do not impede or restrict any applications or access to content that a member may use, unless there is a reasonable belief that a member application is causing harm to our network.
We do not impede or restrict any applications or access to content that a member may use, unless there is a reasonable belief that a member application is causing harm to our network. We do have a promotional and billing arrangement with Peak Internet, and would therefore like to refer you to Peak Internet for their Open Internet policies or go to www.peakinternet.com.
